Wearing only swimmers and taking only a blanket and one other survival item each (like a knife, or some paracord), we will work together to find shelter, water, fire and food on the landscape.
You don’t need any prior experience to participate, just the ability to walk at least 5km on uneven ground and a desire to be more at home in the wild.
We’ll start at the same beautiful bush property where we hold our ReWild Tribe family camps and head out into the wilderness from there.
On the Friday afternoon we will go through a brief overview of survival principles and strategies and some key bushcraft skills. Then it’s learning by doing as we immerse ourselves in the business of wilderness living for 24 hours, returning Sunday morning to celebrate, and rest. (We finish by 2pm.)
See you out bush!

What is ManCraft?
At last! Men's business that isn't just sitting around and talking!
Join our ManCraft brotherhood as we strike out and leave the domestic sphere far behind.
No matter where your ancestors came from, the vast majority of your family tree is hunters and gatherers. That way of life is a distant genetic memory for most of us, but the yearning and the need is still there.
Together we will relearn and remember the skills that once defined masculinity for our hunter/gatherer ancestors - tracking, hunting, protecting, providing and healing in wild nature.
Learn the skills that will empower you to serve your family, your tribe and your self more deeply and fully.
MANCRAFT = the practices, skills and awareness that support and empower wholehearted masculinity.

In this workshop we will dive deeply into Wild ManCraft, as described in the five attributes of the Bluegum Bushcraft ReWild Curriculum:
ANIMAL BODY
Skill in our bodies - movement practices and play designed to cultivate mobility, strength, stamina and spontaneity.
All levels of ability welcome.
HUNTER-GATHERER HAND
Skill in our hands - crafting wood, stone, bone and hide; making shelter, fire and procuring food by hand. Using bushcraft as a transformative practice, deepening into the truth of 'Busy hand, Quiet mind'.
EYE OF THE TRACKER
Learning to read the environment - discerning the stories told in a footprint, a broken twig, a bird call. Understanding weather, geology, the principles of navigation and interpretation of our environment, whether urban or wild.
JEDI MIND
Developing our relationship with our selves - the acceptance and awareness that leads to real self-knowledge.
Cultivating focus, receptivity, inner stillness and power. Learning how to find sanctuary and solace within so that we can bring peace, protection and support to others. Building strong internal foundations so as to have the spare capacity we need to be present in our relationships, with our children and in daily life.
HEART OF THE PROTECTOR
We men are able to numb ourselves. We can close off our feelings in order to do what needs to be done. Whether we need to kill a soft furry animal so that others may eat, go into mortal combat so that others can be safe, or get up in the morning and go to work so the rent is paid; there are times when it helps to be able to harden our hearts. This ability is also a liability - it can enable us to wound our loved ones, to bring unsafety and disconnection where it does not belong.
The skillful, healthy male heart knows how to armour itself when necessary, and then how to re-open itself to love, life and connection. We are, all of us, beginners at this skill. But we can support each other to learn, to make steps toward fluidity of feeling. So that we can become even better protectors, partners, parents and mates.

Men need regular adventure. We need to be able to push ourselves within a brotherhood of supportive men.
We need to leave the village regularly, so that we can return with stories to share, knowledge to impart, a sparkle in our eyes and gladness in our hearts.
Our masculinity gets stagnant and sick when we are trapped in the village, and these days it can be hard to leave the sphere of the mundane, the domestic, the human-made realm.
Do you hear the call of the Wild?
Do you yearn to find your ManTribe, your wild brotherhood; to learn, grow, heal and train with?
Do you want to deepen your ability to be at home in wild Nature, and to be at home in your wild heart?
Then join us, Brother. So do we.
Adventure awaits!

Wild Heart runs rewilding programmes on the NSW South Coast. We acknowledge the traditional custodians of this whole area, the Dharawal, Jerrinja and Yuin people. We acknowledge traditional custodians of the entire continent. We ask permission to help people, in the ways that we can, to deepen into their relationships with the living earth and walk with respect and deep listening.
We walk on stolen land and know that sovereignty was never ceded.
