THIS YEAR'S DIRT TIME IS BOOKED OUT- WAITLIST ONLY
Welcome to Dirt Time
Embodiment wilderness retreat
Bush vigil rite of passage
5rhythms dance meditation daily
Wilderness connection
Voice activation and song
Earth skills
Exploration of the wild and wonderful pathways that lead in and from the human heart
Dirt Time runs from May 6th to May 13th, 2023 in the Budawang Wilderness area on the NSW South Coast, and is limited to 12 women.
We invite you on this 8-day journey for women ready to know themselves and their bodies more deeply. Framed around the powerful simplicity of a 2-day solo bush vigil, Dirt Time offers balance and backbone in its approach to spirituality.
Grounded in the flow of daily 5 Rhythms® waves, the raw reflection of nature and the wisdom of your own body, the marrow of Dirt Time is in getting down to it - showing up, opening up, and giving up that which is no longer needed.
Giving it to the dirt, and bringing back your truth.
We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the NSW South Coast, the Dharawal, Jerrinja and Yuin people. We acknowledge traditional custodians of the entire continent. We ask permission to help people, in the ways that way can, to deepen into their relationships with the living earth and walk with respect and deep listening.
We walk on stolen land and know that sovereignty was never ceded.

This programme is juicy!
Daily 5Rhythms dance meditation, song and voice activation, earth and awareness skills, and delicious village time will support and integrate your solo wilderness rite of passage experience. You'll camp at our gorgeous base camp on a stunning river so clean you can swim and drink. Birdsong and whispering leaves replace the relentless hum of traffic noise, the trees are your walls, the sky your ceiling and beneath it all is the deep eternal silence of the spectacular cliff faces watching over our camp .
Two full days of preparation gives ample time to gather your resources, learn new tools, and develop skills of deep listening and connectedness, so when you head out for your solo time you stand on solid ground. You will be ready.
Two days and nights of bush vigil gives plenty of time for the deep meeting that happens when we we create space to listen to our instincts, open into insight and receive messages from the natural world and our own internal authority. You fast from food and all things familiar. You draw a three metre circle around ourselves and move inside it, to dance our bare feet in the dirt, sleep under stars listen to what is true. You take in water, warm clothes and sleeping gear and a sleeping mat, plus a tarp in case it rains. And then whatever happens is between you and your own wisening heart.
Two full days of integration means there is proper landing time around the fire, in the bush, in the gorgeous pristine river, singing, 5Rhythms dancing and sharing with your sisters. You’ll be guided and supported as you return with your catch, weaving bright new strands into your basket. Relax and land in spaciousness for the ripples of transformation to find their balance, so you may leave brimming with the clear light of beginnings, grounded and whole.

Through it all we dance, sing, gather, share stories, wander, listen, give and receive in the intimate container of a village, in the deeper arms of nature and under the mystery of a sky full of stars.
There is no guru bar your own rightness. Instincts trump external authority hands down. Mother nature offers a pure reflection. There is no woo woo on this programme. Just the wisdom of your own heart, bones and belly arising to help you remember who and what you really are. Whatever that is. However it looks.
Bush vigils are challenging, we won’t lie. Meeting ourselves in this way can be confronting. There is nowhere to hide. But people who come to these ceremonies are called to transformation. They are often at a stage in their journey when they are ready for a deeper movement, for true change in their lives, a yearning for a new way of being.
And if that is you, then welcome to Dirt Time.
We can’t wait to meet you.

PRE-PROGRAMME PREPARATION
Bush Vigil is a rite of passage, and as such, the more you put into it, the more you receive. It's helpful to prepare physically, emotionally and mentally for your supported solo wilderness experience.
Your preparation for Dirt Time officially starts from the moment you commit (although for many of you, it has been bubbling along for some time!).
You may notice that your life gets more tumultuous leading up to the programme. This is completely normal. Our experience is that as we commit to a powerful ceremony of transformation, the material ready to be worked starts to move, which can be uncomfortable. That which is preparing to leave starts to be felt. You will have ample opportunity in the Bush Vigil to work with this material, and we give you plenty of tools to do so.
We invite you to start gathering questions you want answered. The questions that whisper to you from your bones and heart. Big questions, deep questions. Imagine you could ask the Universe, God, Nature, Yoda, anything… and get answers. The answers you yearn for.
This collecting of questions gets the mind and the heart moving, brings your conscious and unconscious aspects into the process and gives you material to work with through the Vigil. The more you put into the Vigil, the more you receive from it. You will not be asked to share these questions with anyone else. They are no one else’s business but yours.
The programme runs for 8 days, with 2 days and nights in the Bush Vigil. During this time you will be solo, in a roughly three metre circle in a place in the bush you choose (with our approval for safety). You fast for the duration of the Vigil. We provide all the water you will need. A simple communication system means you can ask for things like toilet paper or more water during your Vigil, but you will not have any contact with other humans during this time, until you return to main camp. The Vigil Protectors will be checking this communication system twice a day to make sure you have everything you need.
Your only requirements for participation are:
- Place a marker in a designated spot each morning (we will explain this).
- Drink water.
- If you are on prescription medications, take them.
FASTING
We highly recommend you start limiting heavy foods (meat and dairy) from your diet starting now. Begin to fast at least one day a week, or for two or three days a week miss one meal, then two. Wean yourself off caffeine, alcohol and ciggies well before the programme. This lets your body start to process the toxins in your body, and will make your Vigil a LOT easier.
BUSH PREPARATION
Spend some time in the bush, go for a walk, spend some hours alone in the bush.
We’ll send an email with directions and exactly what to bring and how to prepare once you have signed up for Dirt Time.
Your Facilitators
Karina Bontes and Gina Chick are super excited to welcome you to this delicious retreat, which we've been cooking up for a couple of years now. It brings together our collective wisdom after decades of facilitation and experience doing our own inner work. We're both happiest with our feet in the dirt, singing and dancing, while meeting the deepest parts of ourselves in wild nature, and laughing around the fire cooking and eating amazing food. All of which we'll be doing in Dirt Time. There will be laughter. There will be tears. Feasting and fasting, movement and stillness, music and silence, irreverence and ceremony, we're about all of it, the whole lot, all the facets of being in a body. We can't wait to share it all with you.
